How We Check Prices

What “Checked” means on Price Folk, where the numbers come from, and how each status is decided.

Last updated Oct. 24, 2026

Where a page starts

Most pages start with an announcement: a press release, a company newsroom post, or a change on a retailer’s own site. An announcement is where we start, never the only thing we check. Before a page goes up, we look for the official page behind it (the offer page, the terms, the FAQ or the price list) and check each fact there.

What we check, every time

  • Price, and whether it is exact, “around” a figure or “under” a ceiling. We print the company’s own wording.
  • Dates: when an offer starts, when it ends, order and pickup deadlines.
  • Who qualifies and what proof is required.
  • Where: dine-in or online, participating locations, regions.
  • The catch: exclusions, limits and anything that changes the deal.

What “Checked” means

The date in the Checked stamp is the last day every price, date and condition on the page was compared with its source. Each source at the end of a page also shows the day we checked it. When a company changes something, we update the page and add a line to its update history.

How statuses work

  • On now / Ongoing: confirmed and running.
  • Starts / On [date]: confirmed for a future date.
  • Ends soon: ends within 72 hours.
  • Ended: past its last day. We keep the row, marked, so you can see what it was.
  • Not confirmed yet: the company offered it before but has not published this year’s terms. We show last year’s terms, labeled as last year’s, and never present them as current.

Statuses follow each offer’s own dates automatically, in Eastern time, so a deal that ends at midnight is marked ended the next morning without anyone having to remember.

Prices per person

When a meal or bundle says how many people it feeds, we divide the price by the largest number the company gives (“feeds 4–6” counts as six). Tax, tips, delivery and service fees are not included. It is a way to compare, not your final bill.

When we cannot confirm something

We say so, in a “What we don’t know yet” box, instead of guessing. If a company’s site will not load for our checks and the only confirmation is a third party, the offer stays off the list until we can read the terms ourselves.

Mistakes

If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change in the page’s update history. See the corrections policy, or tell us what you found.
