Veterans Day Free Meals 2026: Who Has Confirmed, and What Proof to Bring
Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11. Two national chains have posted 2026 offers so far; here is each one’s fine print, plus last year’s terms from the chains that have not confirmed yet.

The short answer
As of Oct. 24, two national chains have confirmed 2026 Veterans Day meals on their own page or announcement: Chili’s (a free meal from a four-item menu, dine-in) and Red Robin (a free Red’s Big Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries, dine-in). Both are for veterans and active-duty military on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026. Applebee’s, Denny’s, Chipotle, Little Caesars, Hooters and Wienerschnitzel ran offers last year but have not posted 2026 terms yet.

What counts as proof of service
Each chain decides what it accepts, and they do not all say the same thing. Outback publishes the longest list: a Uniformed Services or retired ID card, a Leave and Earnings Statement, a DD-214, a VFW or American Legion card, a VA Veteran Identification Card, or a photo in uniform. Last year Little Caesars named a military ID, a DD-214 or a veteran designation on a driver’s license, and Chipotle required a government-issued military ID. Red Robin asks for a valid military ID or proof of service. Chili’s page does not list any document.
The safest bet is whatever the chain names. If it names nothing, a veteran designation on a state ID or a VA card is quicker to show than paperwork.
The rules that trip people up
- Dine-in only. Every confirmed 2026 offer is for eating in the restaurant, not takeout or delivery.
- “Participating” restaurants. Franchise locations can opt out; call the one near you.
- Time windows. Last year Denny’s served its offer only until noon, Little Caesars from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Chipotle from 4 to 8 p.m.
- Limited menus. The free item usually comes from a short list, and drinks and the tip are not included.
- One per person, and usually not combinable with rewards programs.
When the rest usually announce
Last year’s releases came out over three weeks: Denny’s on Oct. 22, Applebee’s on Oct. 27, Little Caesars on Nov. 6, Chipotle and Wienerschnitzel on Nov. 7, and Hooters on Nov. 10, the day before. Expect most 2026 terms in the first week of November; we update this list as they land.

- Applebee’s, Denny’s, Chipotle, Little Caesars, Hooters and Wienerschnitzel 2026 terms. Last year they announced between Oct. 22 and Nov. 10.
- Golden Corral and Bob Evans: a third-party guide reports 2026 offers, but their sites did not load for our checks, so they stay off the list until we can read the terms ourselves.
- Texas Roadhouse: we found no 2026 Veterans Day details from the company.

Questions people ask
What restaurants give free meals on Veterans Day 2026?
As of Oct. 24, Chili’s and Red Robin have confirmed free meals for veterans and active-duty military on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026, both dine-in. Several others offered free meals last year and had not posted 2026 terms yet.
Is Applebee’s doing free meals for Veterans Day 2026?
Not announced as of Oct. 24. Last year Applebee’s gave a free full-size entrée from a Veterans Day menu to active duty, veterans, Reserves and National Guard members who dined in, and announced it on Oct. 27.

Does Outback have a military discount?
Yes, every day: 10% off the check for veterans and servicemembers with proof, and for police, firefighters, first responders, nurses, doctors and medical staff with ID. It excludes alcohol and is not available on online orders.
