Resideo says its Matter-certified Honeywell Home smart thermostats work with Apple Home today, and on Oct. 22, 2026, it said the ElitePRO, X7S and X8S will get a software update in the first quarter of 2027 that adds Apple’s new Adaptive Temperature and Clean Energy Guidance. You will not need a new thermostat or another installation visit, but Apple’s features need a home hub (HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV), and Clean Energy Guidance works only in the contiguous U.S. with a compatible utility plan.

What the update adds
Apple introduced both features with its Apple Home Collection on Oct. 13, 2026. Adaptive Temperature uses on-device intelligence from your iPhone to adjust heating and cooling depending on whether someone is home, winding down for the night or away, without a schedule. Clean Energy Guidance shifts heating and cooling toward cleaner, lower-cost hours, and the Home app shows your usage over time, including peak and off-peak rates. Resideo calls the first one Adaptive Temperature Control.

If you already have one of the three Honeywell models, the update saves you the $199.95 thermostat, plus $24.95 if your system would need Apple’s C-wire adapter. The trade-off is time: Apple’s thermostats go on sale beginning in December, and Resideo’s update is planned for the first quarter of 2027.
Other Honeywell Home models
Resideo’s announcement names only the ElitePRO, X7S and X8S. It did not say whether other Honeywell Home thermostats will get Adaptive Temperature or Clean Energy Guidance. Honeywell Home’s own setup guide covers adding “any HomeKit-enabled thermostat” to the Home app and points to Resideo’s partner page for the list of compatible models.
How to add one to Apple Home
- Install the thermostat and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- Open the Home app on your iPhone and tap Add Accessory.
- Once it is added, control it from the Home app, with Siri or in Home automations.
The ElitePRO, X7S and X8S are managed in Resideo’s Resideo Connect app, which does not need a hub. The hub is needed only for Apple’s features.
